IN TRADITIONAL QUILT DESIGNS
LESSON 7 - INTERDISCIPLINARY
CONNECTIONS
|
Many activities that are connected to the art of quilting can be created or found in professional journals, textbooks or educational websites. Regional or state quilting guilds are usually prepared to assist educators in making students more aware of quilting and the preparation of materials used in their craft. Students today learn about history through books, textbooks, television, and movies. Children and adults of an earlier generation told their stories by sewing pictures on a quilted coverlet. Some quilts contain material from clothes that were worn until scraps for quilts were all that remained. These suggested interdisciplinary activities can be used to help students develop a better understanding and appreciation of the art of quilting. |
