Energy-efficient Water Heater Comes Home For More Testing
ASHEVILLE — The prototype for a water heater and dehumidifier that recently won praise from President Bush for its energy-saving technology is back on campus at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College for more tests.

Energy Efficiency Technology & Business Fair Set for January 25th
ASHEVILLE – January 4, 2005 The region’s first Energy Efficiency Technology & Business Fair will take place on Tuesday, January 25 th at the Harvey L. Haynes Conference & Technology Training Center on the Enka Campus of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College . The full-day program is sponsored by the Western North Carolina Center for Technology Commercialization through funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
Rep. Taylor Announces Unique Entrepreneurial Program for Area Teachers
ASHEVILLE – Western North Carolina Representative Charles Taylor announced today that teachers in the 11th Congressional District are taking part in a revolutionary program designed to change the way that both teachers and their students think about their future. The K-12 Pilot Group Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurial Workshop supplements the new National Content Standards for Entrepreneurial Education. It is a unique program that provides teachers in WNC with skills to identify, nurture, and cultivate the spirit of entrepreneurialism in their students.
Grant by U.S. Rep. Charles Taylor Funds Energy Workshop at A-B Tech
Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College will host and co-sponsor two energy savings workshops at its Enka campus Nov. 10 and 11. Under a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy facilitated by U.S. Rep. Charles Taylor, A-B Tech is able to bring in experts from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Bob Baugh and Terry Sharp, to present a workshop on the topic of Performance Contracting.
ASHEVILLE WEATHER COMPANY PROVIDES CRITICAL DATA DURING HURRICANE CHARLEY
ASHEVILLE, NC – WNC Rep. Charles Taylor announced today that an Asheville based weather technology company provided the most accurate forecast for the recent path of Hurricane Charley. Baron Advanced Meteorological Systems (BAMS) recently moved its operational headquarters and employees to the Asheville area from Research Triangle Park because of the access to high-speed Internet access and high performance computing facilities which have been brought to the region by the Education and Research Consortium.
